Friday's weather: Warnings issued for damaging winds in at least 2 provinces

The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging interior winds resulting in localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes over the eastern interior of Namakwa, Central Karoo, and the Little Karoo. 

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the western parts of the Eastern Cape, parts of the Northern Cape, and the Central Karoo of the Western Cape.

Gauteng will be fine and warm.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

Morning fog patches are expected along Mpumalanga's escarpment, otherwise it will be partly cloudy in the Lowveld, with fine and cool to warm conditions expected.

Limpopo can expect it to be partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and warm to hot temperatures are forecast.

Fine and warm to hot conditions are expected in the North West.

The Free State will be fine and warm.

Fine, windy and warm to hot temperatures are forecast for the Northern Cape, but cool conditions are expected along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate south-westerly to southerly.

The Western Cape can expect fine and warm to hot temperatures.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate southerly to south-easterly along the west coast in the morning.

Otherwise, a west to south-west wind is forecast.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Fine, windy and hot to very hot conditions are forecast for the western half of the Eastern Cape.

The wind along the coast will be a light northerly to north-easterly.

The eastern half of the province will be fine and warm to hot.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be cloudy to partly cloudy in the north-east with morning fog patches in places over the interior. Otherwise, fine and warm conditions are expected.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate easterly north of Cape St Lucia, otherwise a moderate to fresh north-easterly is forecast, but it will be strong in the extreme south at times.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.
