US entrepreneur and walking coach Crystal Lee is poised to make a significant stride into the South African wellness scene this weekend, bringing her unique Walking Heels class to eager participants.
With a background deeply rooted in empowering people to walk confidently in both heels and life, Lee's journey to South Africa represents a culmination of her passion for wellness and desire to connect with people across continents.
She spoke to News24 about her business, her passion and what brought her to South Africa.

"I got into coaching through my shoe brand, Munroe Shoetique, which is an online shoe retail site, and my product line is women's high heels. I would go to networking events, trade shows with my product line set up and women would always be attracted to the style that I sold."

She says she found an opportunity to convert interest into sales based on feedback from women who loved certain styles, but often would not buy them because they felt they couldn't walk in them.
"I started feeling anxious that women would pick up a style and go; 'These are cute, but I can't walk in them'."
Lee adds:
"If I know that the style did not work for you, I would be like 'Don't go to them, go to this one and this is why'. I would educate you on what you are actually purchasing."
Building on the interpersonal experience gained from this hands-on approach to sales, she developed her coaching business.
During the challenging times of the pandemic, Lee, like many other businesses, pivoted her classes online, inadvertently expanding her reach to a global audience.
During this period, her journey to South Africa began to take shape.
After teaching a successful class in Ghana, which garnered attention from people across the African continent, Lee was inundated with requests from South Africans eager to experience her teachings firsthand.
Now, on the cusp of her birthday, which falls on 15 March, Lee is gearing up to impart her wisdom on South Africans eager to elevate their walking game and boost their confidence.
Her Walking Heels class promises improved posture and grace, ankle and balance strengthening techniques, heel-walking techniques and a renewed sense of self-assurance that transcends the physical.

"My birthday falls on 15 March. I'm coming out celebrating my birthday, teaching the heels class and just spending my time out in South Africa."

When I went to Ghana, it was super-friendly, everyone was very exciting and very welcoming.
"It was easy to do everything because everyone was just willing to help you. I highly appreciate that.
"I've never been [to South Africa] so I don't know what to expect but I'm hoping the experience is similar or even better.
"It's not solely about experiencing the heels class in South Africa, I really want to get out there and experience the culture. I just hope I have fun."
As she prepares to make her mark on South African soil, sharing her message of self-confidence and empowerment, Lee invites South Africans to step into a world of self-discovery and empowerment, one confident stride at a time.
