Mighty Mamelodi Sundowns thrash Kaizer Chiefs, secure 7th consecutive PSL title

FULL-TIME: Kaizer Chiefs 1-5 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns delivered a resounding 5-1 victory against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium, securing their seventh consecutive DStv Premiership title.

Tashreeq Matthews (two), Matias Esquivel, Lucas Ribeiro, and Thembinkosi Lorch found the net in the second half, securing all three points for the Brazilians.

With this victory, they solidified their position at the top of the log, ensuring that they cannot be caught.

This marks their 17th overall championship (14th in the PSL era), achieved with six games remaining.

The Tshwane team now aims to conclude the season unbeaten in the Premiership.

Ribeiro turns provider again as he dinks a perfect cross for former Orlando Pirates forward Lorch to hit the final nail in the coffin with a headed finish.

Matthews completes his brace. Silkly football from Sundowns splits open the Chiefs back four with ease. The Cape Town-born forward, who arrived at the club in January, does his best with clinical finish past Bvuma.
